Monday, July3
Monday morning - no rain thank goodness. A mild to moderate windis blowing out of the Southeast - somewhat unusual as the prevailingwinds are generally from the Northwest. The land series consisted ofa delayed triple (see panorama below) with a blind between the firstand second marks. As the handlers exited the holding blind and beganwalking towards the line a dry shot was fired from the middle of thefield signaling the start of the test. The first bird down was 95yards from the line down a gentle slope and then back up to the topof the next rise. Bird #2 was angled back from a winger from left toright. In order to hold the line dogs had to anlge along a gentleslope and negotiate a sharp rise over a dirt road running through thefield. At this point the dog was released to pick up one of the twomarks and as he returned the third mark was thrown angling back fromright to left. Snow goose decoys were placed in the bottom of ahollow in the middle of the field as well as up on the rise just tothe left of the line on Mark #1.
The first dog ran at 9:30 am and the series conclued at 3:30 pm.At the end of the land series dog #'s 9, 11, 18, 21 and 25 weredropped!
