Started Hunting Retriever Field Tests

A NAHRA Started Hunting Retriever Test consists of five single marks.

• Two single marks on land (maximum distance of 75 yards)
• Two single marks on water (maximum distance of 50 yards)
• A fifth mark on either land or water, at the discretion of the judges

A leash, line or slip cord may be used to keep the dog steady at the line. (However, no dog is allowed to make a retrieve while wearing a collar, leash , line or similar device.)

Delivery to hand is not required. The dog must only deliver the bird to within a reasonable radius of the point of origin.

A dog will earn 2.5 points towards a Started Retriever (SR) title by passing the above tests and earning an average score of 80% or better.
